Canadian Food Company joins Osteoporosis Canada in educating Canadians about bone health through a well-balanced diet

(BRAMPTON, May 7, 2013) – Canada’s premium pasta manufacturer Italpasta Limited is proud to be the 2013 Health & Wellness Sponsor of the National Nordic Walking Fundraising Events benefitting Osteoporosis Canada.

For years, health care professionals have stressed the benefits of a well-balanced diet and exercise for well-being. Osteoporosis Canada’s position on nutrition for healthy bones focuses on calcium and vitamin D while stressing a well-balanced diet which includes fibre and whole grains, vitamins and minerals and protein, while including all four food groups in Canada’s Food Guide. Osteoporosis Canada will use their Nordic pole walking program – a weight bearing exercise which has been shown to increase bone density – to both educate and make exercise fun and accessible to individuals of all ages. Funds raised from the events being held in Whistler, B.C. on June 8; Mont-Tremblant on September 21; and Niagara-on-the-Lake on October 5, will assist Osteoporosis Canada in providing medically accurate information to patients, healthcare professionals and the public via free publications, a toll-free information line, educational programs and referrals to community resources.
